I am delighted to welcome you to The Highway Primary School, which has been serving the community and providing a high quality education for over 50 years. We always feature well in the Bromley league tables and our pupils regularly gain selective places at local and Kent secondary schools. However, we see all our children as individuals and nurture the whole child, not just their academic potential but their personal, social and creative development too.
Our school is a one-form entry co-educational community primary with approximately 220 pupils on roll. It is set in beautiful, spacious grounds and is very well equipped with excellent resources including interactive whiteboards in every classroom. We have a networked ICT suite, staging and lighting for productions, dedicated music and art rooms and well qualified, caring teachers. We also value your input, as your child’s first teachers, and your belief in us that we have the best interests of your child at heart. We have an open door policy so come in and talk to us!
Our active PTA work hard to organise social and fund raising events. All funds are fed back into school to benefit your child so please get involved, feel part of the team and support their excellent work! We also enjoy strong links with various aspects of the wider community, working closely with Charterhouse preschool, June’s Baby, Mother & Toddler Group, Christ Church, local businesses and the local senior citizen’s group, the House Martins.
The children enjoy hosting concerts and events and there is always a very special atmosphere at these occasions. Our school’s musical reputation is well known in the borough and we offer an excellent range of instrument tuition. The curriculum does not end as the school day ends. We have opportunities for the children to participate in chess club and sports such as football and netball after school run by parents who volunteer their time generously. If you are interested, contact me, as there are always opportunities to extend the range.
I hope, like me, you feel strongly that we achieve our aims for the school together. I am sure that children learn best in an ethos of praise, encouragement and challenge. I cannot stress the importance of pastoral care at school, support from home and a young child’s confidence and security.
