Special Needs

 

Some children experience special needs at some time in their school lives. At The Highway Primary School, in line with the Special Needs Code of Practice, we identify special needs that require:

  1. School Action, where we plan to meet a child’s needs within our normal school provision, or
  2. School Action Plus, where we enlist the help of outside agencies such as the Educational Psychologist to guide and advise.

Pupils with identified special needs will have an I.E.P. (Individual Education Plan), which targets small areas for the child to develop. The class teacher and the school SENCO (Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator, Mrs Rodin) will monitor I.E.P.s and discuss targets with parents at Open Evening.
